WHY DO DOGS CHEW ON THEIR FEET

Why dog

Hey everyone! How’s everyone doing tonight? You know what really grinds my gears? Dogs who chew on their feet! I mean seriously, what’s up with that?
I have a dog myself, and I catch him all the time gnawing on his own toes like they’re made of beef jerky. And let me tell you, it’s not a pretty sight. I’ll be sitting there, trying to relax after a long day, and all I can hear is the sound of my furry little buddy slurping away on his own feet. It’s like a never-ending ASMR nightmare.

But, as annoying as it is, I’ve always wondered why dogs do this. I mean, they have plenty of toys and bones to chew on, so what makes their own feet so appealing? Maybe they’re just really into self-care? Like, “Sorry, human, I can’t play with you right now, I’m too busy giving myself a pedicure.”
Or maybe it’s a weird form of exercise? You know, like a canine version of yoga? “Downward dog? More like downward dog food, am I right?”
But in all seriousness, there are actually some legitimate reasons why dogs might chew on their feet. For one, it could be a sign of allergies or skin irritations. Or, it could be a way to alleviate boredom or anxiety. I mean, I can relate to that last one. Sometimes I chew on my own fingernails when I’m stressed out.

So, the next time you catch your furry friend snacking on his own toes, don’t be too quick to judge. He might just be in need of a little TLC or a distraction from his own anxious thoughts. Or maybe he’s just really, really hungry. Either way, let’s just be thankful that we don’t have to clean up after him when he’s done.
